As our project portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Construction Project Engineer to support our project management and field operations teams.

Job Overview

The Construction Project Engineer plays a key supporting role in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and design professionals to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, quality, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and eager to grow within a project management career path while contributing meaningfully to day-to-day project success.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Assist Project Managers in developing project plans, schedules, scopes of work, and execution strategies.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to support project requirements and design intent.

  • Support constructability reviews and value engineering efforts during pre-construction and execution phases.

Cost Control & Financial Support

  • Assist with preparation and tracking of project budgets, cost reports, and forecasts.

  • Support subcontractor buyout, bid tabulation, and scope leveling activities.

  • Track change orders, potential change events (PCEs), and cost impacts in coordination with the Project Manager.

  • Review subcontractor invoices and assist with pay application processing.

Schedule & Document Control

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and milestone tracking.

  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, meeting minutes, and correspondence.

  • Ensure timely routing, review, and tracking of project submittals and approvals.

  • Maintain accurate and organized project files in accordance with company standards.

Field & Site Support

  • Support Superintendents and field teams with coordination of daily activities, material deliveries, and subcontractor scheduling.

  • Participate in jobsite meetings, safety meetings, and inspections as required.

  • Assist with quality control inspections and punch list development and tracking.

  • Verify field conditions and assist with issue resolution between design and construction teams.

Safety & Compliance

  • Support enforcement of company safety policies and OSHA requirements on project sites.

  • Assist with safety documentation, reporting, and corrective action tracking.

  • Help ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Assist Project Managers in communicating with owners, consultants, and subcontractors.

  • Prepare status updates, reports, and meeting materials as needed.

  • Support client meetings, site walks, and progress reviews.

Project Closeout

  • Assist with project closeout activities including punch list completion, as-built documentation, warranties, and final submissions.

  • Coordinate turnover documentation and ensure all closeout requirements are satisfied.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in construction project engineering, field engineering, or related roles preferred.

  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.

  • Proficiency with project management and document control software.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in AIA invoicing highly desired.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
